## Biography

Alongside Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and his close friend Thelonious Monk, **Bud Powell** is one of the founding fathers of bebop. A tormented genius, scarred for life by a police beating that triggered severe mental health issues, he was responsible for superb, particularly inspired compositions, some of which have become among the most frequently played standards in the repertoire.

Today, **Joachim Caffonnette** presents a selection of pieces by this giant of the piano and bebop, backed by a top-class line-up, with the themes led by **Jean-Paul Estiévenart** on trumpet.
