## Biography

Our artistic director makes no secret of the fact that he is a huge fan of Bill Evans. One of the most influential pianists in the history of jazz and a key architect of the global and timeless success of \*Kind of Blue\*, the Plainfield native enjoyed a career spanning more than 30 years, with a style that was unique and instantly recognisable from the very first note. A magician of harmony, a master of romanticism and the inventor of interplay with his legendary trio alongside Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian, he was a prolific composer and a ‘reinventor of standards’ who changed forever the way those who followed him would play the piano. Joachim Caffonnette, who has studied the American pianist for many years, immersing himself in his style, will attempt to do him justice this Sunday afternoon.
