Jazz was born in the streets of New Orleans, where it's not easy to get around with a piano. It was by entering the cafés of Storyville that innovators like Jelly Roll Morton transcribed this music to the piano. But a little earlier, another genius pianist, Scott Joplin, was developing a unique style that would influence jazz (and classical music) just as much as jazz (and classical music) would influence it: Rag-Time. It is out of his love for this prehistoric jazz, which would give rise to Chicago stride, that Antoine Lissoir wanted to put together a band.
