Margaux Vranken (piano) ; Fil Caporali (upright bass) ; Daniel Jonkers (drums)
A leading figure of her generation, the pianist Margaux Vranken has been very active on the Belgian and international music scene for several years. Trained at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels, then at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she forged valuable collaborations, she stands out for her rare lyricism and a style characterised by clear lines.
With five albums to her name – featuring, in turn, string ensembles, wind ensembles and piano-and-voice duos – she performs tonight as part of a trio, the format favoured by jazz pianists. On the programme: her pop-infused compositions, characterised by a strong sense of melody, and a few timeless classics from the American Songbook.
